Like most women, I absolutely adore receiving a good candle, the more expensive and beautifully packaged, the better. Last Christmas, one of my male friends asked for a gift suggestion for a girl he had just started dating and I suggested an expensive candle from 10 Corso Como, a wonderful luxury boutique here in Shanghai. He took my advice, and was thrilled to report that the gift was perfect and all went well. Which I knew it would. Because women love expensive candles. Needless to say, I was ecstatic when I received a Jo Malone home candle from my colleagues at work as a parting gift.
Jo Malone has become synonymous with luxury candles and bespoke scents. From colognes to bath oils, candles and home fragrances, this British company is regarded as one of the best when it comes to handcrafted scents.
Celebrating British style with unexpected fragrances and the elegant art of gift giving.
I have the Nectarine Blossom & Honey Home Candle. First of all, the package is absolutely gorgeous. The candle comes in an elegant gift box that demonstrates gift giving at its best. With black tissue paper and a creme ribbon, it’s the kind of box you want to keep. The candle comes in glass with a heavy base and an engraved lid. The weight adds to its luxuriousness and the lid keeps dust off the wax when you’re not using the candle.
At 200 grams, the candle has about 45 hours of burn time. I really love the scent – it’s very light and reminiscent of spring. Sweet, floral and fruity, it’s a very feminine scent but it’s playfulness keeps the fragrance modern and youthful. What I enjoy most about Jo Malone candles is that not only are the scents impeccable, they are never suffocating. Anywhere I light it, the room is filled with a luxurious air that seems impregnated into the walls, not soaked in the air.
For a new relationship or a long-term one, for your boss at work or a friend’s birthday, a luxury candle is always a welcome gift.
