Winter is slowly melting into spring and with a new season, new hair is definitely something a girl needs to transition into warmer weather, pastel colors and flowing silhouettes. If the runways are any measure of what’s cool, this season it’s not about the cut or the style, it’s all about the color.
Rich shades of chestnut, ebony and auburn along with Nordic blond have come back in full strength. No more ombre shades of last year and no heavy highlights – just pure, solid color. The best shade for you will be close to your natural tone but here are a few hair color trends for spring 2014 that will really make your hair pop.
Blond – if you’re naturally blond but use warmer, golden tones for your hair, try a silvery-blue hue for this spring. This color works best for pale, cool skin tones and this latest hair color looks great with the hottest trends from off the runway.
Dark brown – brunettes can take a hint from the cooling blond trend as well by cooling down their rich, warm caramel shades into cooler walnuts. Warm brown is great for summer and autumn but this spring, a cool brown is a great way to move out of winter.
Black – if you have deep black hair, don’t lose heart over the color trend. Changing black from an ebony black to a blue black can make a drastic difference. Or using dark brown lowlights on under layers can bring a new dimension to black hair.
Deep contrast – also on trend is hair color that contrasts ones skin tone. Think a chocolate brown for pale skin or even a blue-black for porcelain skin tones. For girls with medium, tan, or olive complexions, hair colors that offset a skins warm tones with cooler ones can really update a look and bring a new freshness.
Red – all designers agree that this is the spring for redheads. From peachy shades to deep ruby hair, red can be cool or warm and can be worn short or long. Keep your look updated by making sure your shade of red is rich and ask your stylist to make sure the color looks three dimensional by adding very faint low lights to the lower layers.
