You can see for yourself the influence of yoga on the western world in general and the United States in particular. Yoga has become extremely popular and one of the common forms of yoga practiced in west is Power Vinyasa yoga.
Power Vinyasa Yoga is the form of the yoga in which there is a synchronistic application of body movements along with breathing that is maintained over a period of time. In other words, this means that there is an interaction of body movements in sync to the breathing techniques.
Power Vinyasa Yoga is something that is not so unique in United States. It was a form of yoga that was derived to help people gain physical strength along with flexibility. It is a challenging work out and also has athletic movements that help in energetically flow from one posture to another posture.
There are many sports enthusiasts who take up this form of Yoga as it has got the ability to balance opposing muscle groups thus helping to get away with a number of, if not all, sports injuries or pains.
Invention of Power Yoga
It was invented by two American yoga teachers namely Beryl Bender Birch and Bryan Kest in mid 1990s. Beryl Bender Birch was based in New York while Bryan Kest was based in Los Angeles. These two were the students of Ashtanga master Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. By using the term power, they have differentiated the intense, the flowing style of yoga as against the slow, gentle stretching and meditation.
Power Vinyasa Yoga brings together the strength, movement & the mental focus that helps you keep in moment. It really works effectively. But in all truthfulness, I would say that this style of yoga will mostly call to the segment of people who are already fit and enjoy doing exercising. Even if you are not athletic, you should still give it a try. Who knows, you may just love doing power vinyasa yoga.
